Who we are.

FBCSF Mission

To develop a people who are committed to Radical Devotion to God, Radical Community with each other and Radical Service to others.

Ephesians 4:12-13 "To prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole fullness of Christ."

FBCSF Vision

The Christ-like transformation of ourselves, the city of San Francisco and our world.

Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

FBC is located in the very heart of San Francisco. We love our community and hope to continue to be a voice of peace, truth, justice and faith to Hayes Valley, The Mission, The Castro and the greater San Francisco area. Our church is very diverse and is comprised of many flavors of humanity from all walks of life, and numerous parts of the world. With that in mind, we also are a sending church that supports various efforts internationally so that peace, justice and the Good News of Jesus may be spread to all peoples.

First Baptist has strong roots and rich heritage in the City. Established in 1849, First Baptist seeks to grow as the City grows to reach the residents and to be used by God to bring lives into relationship with Jesus Christ. We invite you to join us as we reach the City of San Francisco and the world for Him.
